Questions we get asked

It depends on two things that no website can see: how big the vehicle is, and how much correction the paint needs before anything is applied. A coating goes on to prepared paint, so a car that needs a full correction first is a different job from one that needs a polish.

What is fixed is which tier you are buying. Pick the guarantee you want out of the three below and we will quote that tier for your vehicle, free and fast, before any work starts.

More than most people expect, and it is worth knowing before you buy rather than after. The guarantee is issued by Gtechniq, not by this shop, and these are its published conditions.

Gtechniq's own position is that a car looked after well and washed properly will easily reach the nine year guarantee. A coating is protection, not immunity.

Gtechniq states Crystal Serum Ultra can only be applied by a Gtechniq Accredited Detailer. You cannot buy it and you cannot have it applied by a shop that is not accredited.

So the credential is the product. Petty Shine is listed in Gtechniq’s own directory as an accredited detailer, and that listing is theirs rather than ours, so you can go and check it before you book anything.

Gtechniq describes Crystal Serum Ultra as a hard 10h top layer over a softer 7h base, which it says gives improved swirl resistance over a regular 9h coating.

Film is a sacrificial layer. It takes the chip so the paint does not, and film that has taken a hit is film doing its job.

That is the whole idea. Urethane thick enough to absorb an impact goes over the panels that get hit, and it wears instead of the paint. A chip in the film is the film doing exactly what it was bought to do, and film is replaceable in a way that factory paint is not.

Self healing works on light scratches and swirls. STEK's own FAQ says a scratch that penetrates the topcoat will not self heal.

So light swirls and wash marks come back out with heat. A deep scratch does not, and any shop that tells you otherwise is describing a product that does not exist.

Ceramic rejects more heat and costs more. Laminate is the value option and still cuts glare and fading. Tell us how the car is used and we will say which is worth the money on yours. The film and its terms are confirmed for your vehicle with your free quote.

We do not publish a turnaround time, because an honest one cannot be written before anyone has seen the vehicle. A maintenance detail and a full correction under a nine year coating are not the same week of work.

The turnaround is confirmed when the vehicle is booked, at the same time as the price, so you know both before you hand over the keys.

Because a price list would be wrong for most of the vehicles that read it. A single cab truck and a three row SUV are not the same job, and two cars of the same model are not the same job either if one of them has been through six years of automatic car washes.

All nine services are quoted on the vehicle instead. You get one clear quote, it covers the work described next to it, and you have it before anyone touches the car. Nothing is added in the bay.
